Honestly, the best way to "help" wild birds is to let them be. If you find one on the ground, leave it. Mom or dad is close by watching it. If you find a nest, leave it. Mom will likely be back, and if she's not, there is a reason. They know far more about hatching and raising their young than we do. Often when people try to help a baby animal or bird, they do more harm than good. (I know it's hard not to want to, though. I've been there.)True! I’ve seen robins do that.
