Surprisingly, no new babies this morning. We do see a pip on the egg that was wiggling like mad yesterday.

Hopefully the others will hatch today because the two early birds are anxious to get out.

Congratulations on the new chicks, and I'm crossing my fingers for the rest. I am positively giddy with excitement for you and the family! (also because my incubator arrived yesterday!)

I do wonder, however, about instructions that begin with "Turn off all the dip switches......"!
Huh? I nearly died laughing, so did DH, and now all of our not too bright dogs are know as Dip Switches 1, 2 and 3.

Rob actually missed a pip, and we have TWO new pips this morning. I'm going to log the info for which ones have pipped/zipped/hatched, etc. here to help us keep track.

So going from Rob's first post about which eggs are which:
Brown Egg (colored like our hens' eggs) Pip 8amish 1/29, zipped/hatched after 5pm but before 10pm (we were out) 1/29. Sightly dried when we got back, so probably 8ish?. Black chick w/black beak and white chest/belly. Small yellow feathers by eyes. Slightly larger than brown chick from white egg. pip-to-zip approx. 12 hours "Lilly"
White - Pip 11amish 1/29 done zipping/out at 4:40pm Brown chick w/pinkish brown beak. Done in less than 6 hours! "Sparkles"
White - Pip before 7:30am 1/30. Actively zipping noonish and hatched out at 2:15pm. probably less than 12 hours? Looks darker than the other white egg chick with black on beak. "Ginger"
Big green/brown - Rocking on 1/29, Pip during night after 10pm but before 7:30am 1/30, out 4:30pmish 14 hours?? Black chick w/black beak (darker beak than "Ginger") "Starlight"
Big green/brown - (nothing yet)
Light blue - (still waiting)
Light blue/green - Pip 8:30amish 1/31 "Saysa"

Alana's convinced they think she's their mommy. She's so excited.
Fun, fun!

Ug, so much for not "turning" the eggs the last 3 days. These two early-birds are wrestling around like crazy and tossing the other eggs all over the place.

I know they are fine in there for a few days, but how long should I leave them in there before they should come out to either stop bugging the other eggs or to eat/drink?

Leave them alone, if the other eggs are healthy and going hatch it does not make any difference when the hatched chicks knock them around alittle. It sometimes helps the unhatched chicks to hear the others peeping, so they want to pip!

The hatched chicks are just fine for another day, they are living off the yolk sac they absorbed before hatching out. You can ruin the rest of the hatch by taking them out early.
