Rock Hounds? Any?

Tektite? is some type of molten stone too, isn't it? But, I don't think it is volcanic. Sorry vague memory on types I don't see normally. What is it?

After a really devestating loss yesterday, over 50% of my flockwas destroyed by a predator, I am glad to come here and see this still going! Here is more of my collection:

Tektites are formed when a the heat from a meteor impact throws molten rock outward and it cools and solidifies, forming a glassy stonish thing. I have a couple of Moldavite tektites that are very etched and transparent green.

Nice amethyst! I love your pink slab. Is that rhodocrosite?

Yes it is! I got that amethyst for $8!!!!! I love that gem & mineral show we have out here. Nothing but rock hounds wanting to share their booty with other rock hounds. I always look forward to March.

Quick question...I found a rock when I was a kid, looked like a crystal of some sort. It was dark DARK green, but you could still see through it. any ideas what it could have been? I lost it out of my pocket jumping our ditch when a dog chased me home.

I think I actually cried..I was like 8 or 9. It was about 3 inches long and an inch thick. Maybe a stupid question, but I loved that rock, it was SOOOO pretty! Anyway...just wondered if anyone might have a clue.

What a deal! Is that of one of those amethyst tubes from South American?

I so jealous of your gem and mineral show! We used to have a really great one in Houston, but it has sort of turned into the bead and jewelry show, and isn't very heavy with minerals and the like anymore. Some nice but extraordinarily expensive fossils, though.

And this almost does not seem right to ask after your loss, but what is the second specimen that you posted?
