Rocks, Ameraucanas Growing Up ( New pics post 85 @11.5 Weeks)

Hey, I was looking at shades of blue last night on the web and found that there is an "Alice blue", named for Roosevelt's daughter, and a song called "Alice Blue Gown", too! It's almost the shade of the very light blue pullet I have, so guess her name may become Alice! I had never heard of Alice blue before yesterday!

From Wikipedia:

Alice blue is a light or steel blueish-cyanish color that was favored by Alice Roosevelt Longworth, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and which sparked a fashion sensation in the United States.

The hit song "Alice Blue Gown", inspired by Longworth's signature gown, premiered in the 1919 Broadway musical Irene. The musical was made into a film in 1940 starring Anna Neagle and Ray Milland.

The color is specified by the United States Navy for use in insignia and trim on vessels named for Theodore Roosevelt.[citation needed] "AliceBlue" is also one of the original mid-1990s X11 color names which became the basis for color description in web authoring.

This jacket is Alice Blue. So, what do you think? Would it suit her?

Hey, Kathy, the other blue Rock pullet, not shown very well in one photo here, has several almost black feathers on her, but she is too dark to be called splash, I'd think. Alice is the one I guess I had pegged for a splash, but I guess she really is just an incredibly light blue.

I knew you'd say that.

Here are some pics of some of them today, first time they've been out in days. Look at that redheaded Ameraucana cross! If I had not seen that come from a blue egg, I'd swear it was a RIR chick.

The redhead, the BLRW/Ameraucana cross. If it's a pullet, her name is Rita, for Horsefeathers' hen who passed on recently. It was pretty cool this morning, so they stood around hunched against the cool breeze, but I was able to get a few good pics. Do you see the start of a beard on this one?
