quick background: 9 month old LF cochin pullet (very sweet, inquisitive, super friendly!) ...

The chickens were all out in the yard today (they free range) ... and between the new chicks hatching, the kentucky derby & trying to get yard work done - I didn't pay much attention to where they were going. . . After the race I went out to check on everyone (put the chicks away into their brooder - they were out in their pen in the yard) ... and she was laying down under the bench (this was odd in itself - she's usually the first one to get up and RUN towards you - looking for food etc. ) she got up and walked around a VERY little. I tried enticing her with food - and she wasn't interested, went and got a piece of bread and crumbled pieces up for everyone - and she still wasn't interested (VERY VERY not her) ...

I picked her up and checked her over and she had a squishy crop that feels like it's full of little rocks x( ... could this be - and what will happen? ...

I did give her some olive oil - just squirted 1 cc in her mouth - since she's not intersted in eating i figured putting it in food was a waste of time.

She jumped up on the perch, but she's alone in the corner instead of with her sisters like she always is! ...

what else can I do? ... her crop really feels like a small bean bag! x( ...

Besides rocks, it could be oyster shells (they do have those in a small dish in their coop).

her crop feels like a soft bean bag ... it is squishy... but you can definitely feel the round objects ! (quite a few of them).

I saw her poo once - and was just a small dryer piece - the typical brown/white color - i'm going to check on her again in a bit.

well she seems much better this am - ran out with all the girls and went right to eating/scratching away ... i think she must've found something that didn't agree with her somewhere - hopefully the olive oil helped somewhere along the lines too ...

I haven't done a physical inspection (since she was so eager to go out - i let her) ...

fingers crossed she's really ALL better -
