Rodents

Jack Russell and Rat Terrier are both great breeds for getting rodents, however if it's a coon, you'd need something bigger. Another very trainable animal for getting rid of rodents is the ferret. We had one that put our mousing cats to shame. Let her out when there was a rodent around and she'd have the thing dead within seconds of getting out of the cage, and usually ate it too, so less clean up for me.

If you're dealing with a raccoon, you can get a live catch trap at the local farm store like this one:




Though I don't know what you'd do with it once you caught it, except maybe call a pest control company or maybe your local animal control.

If you trap it take the raccoon, opossum, skunk to the woods far from your house. Maybe a wildlife refuge where it would not eat anyones eggs. Use a blanket to cover the trap and use leather gloves to pick up the trap.
