RodNTN's chat thread!

:lau See, brothers are weird! XD
Odd. maybe cocci? Have they been dewormed? Put ACV in their water and post it in another forum. Hopefully you can get more answers.

Here's a link that shows lots of different types of poos (lol). It's kinda hard to tell from the picture, so this should help you compare. :)

Sisters are weird......................

Anyway, what y'all into TODAY? Good job with the ditch Whatsyername! And I hope the house situation goes well for the other whatsyername! (That's what I call folks who I can't remember their name...I guess I could look back but my finger doesn't feel like moving the mouse all the way across the screen so 'Whatsyername' it is...XD )
I CAN AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!

Weeell, it can be fatal. But don't freak out! It usually can be treated successfully, and I think you caught it pretty early.

How old are the chicks that might be infected?

Like 4 or 5 weeks old.

I agree with FarmGal. You can only save chickens from worms or any sickness if you catch it early. There can be miracles but it's very rare. I had a chicken that I caught early a few weeks ago and I quickly started putting DE and apple cider vinegar in their food and water and she was saved. Unlike my other hens, Leia, Maple and Henrietta, I didn't catch it soon enough and they died. How did I know my hen was coming down with worms? She had a smelly bum, her poop was watery and has strings that could be worms, and she was acting down. Just to be sure, I always always put extra DE in my hens food and apple cider vinegar in their water. Even if it's not worm season (usually early and late fall and spring) you need to be sure. We started putting extra DE and vinegar in their food in the spring and it worked. But, when it turned summer we stoped because we thought it wasn't worm season anymore. Well, we were wrong. A few months later, my hen Maple came down with this bad case of worms and we tried and tried, but we couldn't save her. Now we're always careful what to put in their food. We haven't had a chicken die of worms since.

Lily, is there anything that they could be getting into that they were/are getting the worms from? Like trash, or mice or something? Because I have never added DE to my chickens food - ACV to the water on occasion, but DE only goes in the dustholes for us.
