this all reminds me of a story my father told me many yrs ago.
His brother owned a gas station and he was visiting him . A stray dog kept coming to the pumps and peeing on them. My uncle said, If that dog comes one more time he is going to be sorry. (he disliked dogs very much) . Well, here comes the dog back and dad said he grabbed that dog by the tail and shoved the gas nozzle up his rear and when he let go the dog went crazy ! He was running in circles around the pumps really fast for a good 10 min. then he just stopped cold and fell over to his side.
I found this to be an awful story as a child and was quite upset by it . Tears in my eyes I turned to my father and asked, He died ? He said naw, he just run out of gas...

Has he settled down, he should have some time ago by now. If not, could be something else going on, or he's just extremely mortified that you actually sprayed that stuff on his sore tush!

he was pecking at himself last night before he went in the coop. At least he wasnt running full speed this morning.. and of course he was jumping on the hens so I guess he will be ok. I'll check him when I get home after work
