My name is Aylin.
we bought 5 silkie babies in april 2025.
One has died from an unknown cause, the rest are thriving.
They're free ranging all day every day, with our 3 cats protecting them from predators.

It turns out -> they're all hens (what are the odds??).
We're currently looking for a rooster and I have my eye on one in particular, hopefully I can give an update with our newest member of the family soon InshaAllah.

Their names are (from left to right): Jalebi, Mango, Challo and Wednesday.
Khan is the one that has died, she was a chocolate frizzle silkie.

We have 3 children under 6 and I work 32 hours a week so there isn't much time for other hobbies, but I do enjoy reading!
Send me a message if you have Goodreads, i'd love to connect.

Nice to meet all of you.
Can't wait to learn more about chickens!

Hello Aylin.
Welcome to BYC.
That's a very fluffy collection you've got there.
Are you looking for a Silki male?
Hi Shadrach!
Yes we are! I have found a few that are super fluffy and sweet, not the colour I was looking for, but hey, one can't have everything haha

:welcome

Hi Aylin, it's nice to have you here with us! Sorry for the loss of one of your Silkies.
Thanks! It was very emotional and I was ready to give up on chickens altogether. but the rest looks healthy and happy, there was no sign of any infection. The vet expected some kind of head trauma.
