I'm usually patient with roo's. Especially since I have RIR's and they have a tendency to be aggressive. I recently broke my 11 month old by dunking him. Worked like a charm. He hasn't come at me in about 10 weeks now. When he started flogging me it was below my knees. I've always had a rule, if one attacks me above the waist he is gone right then. I treat my birds as livestock first and foremost, however they are my pets. If you are going to keep him I suggest you get a hat and some goggles to protect your eyes. You may look a little silly but you could also use a paintball mask with the full face shield. Don't let that roo hurt you anymore, do what you have to do to protect yourself and your family.
I have a scar on my left side just below my ribs that is still tender to the touch at times from a roo that stuck a spur into me 2". This happened almost 35yrs ago and I went through hell with the infections and treatments for almost 2yrs to get it somewhat healed.
