One of my roos (Barred Rock Obama) is being beaten by the hens and is scared of them. The other roos aren't dominant over him because they're still chicks. I'm hoping to get chicks from him but he won't mate. He's not quite grown-up yet, but he should be mating by now. His age is unknown but I know he's old enough to be mating. What should I do? He looks grown-up except his feathers are still pretty dark for a barred bird, & his tail, wings, & spurs aren't quite grown in yet. He's bigger than them, and his comb and wattles are big & red. 5 of the hens are about 18 months old and 2 of them are 3 years+ (I think)

I have 3 roosters that are 6 mth old and 1 mth younger than the hen. Normally, she would let the boys know who wears pants in the coop by pecking them if they are out of line. However, I see the roos take care of business when she allows them. I think your roo will do his thing when the time comes, so be patient.

He's still in his adolescence, wait until he gets a bit bigger and he will soon show them who is boss,

We just cracked some eggs and there were EMBRYOS! SO EXCITED! Now I just have to wait for a hen to go broody and hatch some eggs.
