The neighbors called the police on my roos, so I had to get rid of them today or risk paying fines to keep them. Is there some way to either keep them from crowing or "de-crow" them (think de-barking a dog)?
This same question gets posted often. I have not seen it answered Yes.
If the problem is the crowing in the morning can you keep the roos locked in a dark coop till later?
...my girls get so jealous! If you google decrowing, you'll find almost nothing on that subject or mostly people saying 'dont do it' ...most vets just won't do it anyways. Risks are high and your rooster could possibly die. The best you can do is call around and find if anyone would do it for you. Sorry that bout not being able to provide anymore info. Perhaps you could build a box out of plywood and keep him in at night and let him out after 9 or 10. Try not to let light in...however some rooster doesn't crow just because of daylight, they also crow when they hear noise or get startled. Good Luck!
