Chris, does the poultry concentrate have all the basics as far as vitamins & minerals? I'm wondering about mixing a cock bird ration with it, something like that?
I'd be interested in the mix you use so I can run it by the feed mill to see if they could mix it. I've got under 40 birds and most aren't even 6 mo old yet. There's a game cock ration around here that sounds really good (have yet to catch the feed store open yet though). I've had chickens less than a year but already I've grown tired of this "complete pelleted feed" thing.
It has all that you would need to mix a good feed all you have to add is corn for a basic mix. Now I mix a little more than corn in my mix but that is because I want animal protein in my mix and like the results of adding the other ingredients.
Here is the list of ingredients of the Chick-En-Egg Concentrate from there web page:
Plant protein products, calcium carbonate, processed grain by-products, monocalcium phosphate, dicalcium phosphate, salt, methionine hydroxy analog, choline chloride, manganous oxide, ferrous sulfate, zinc oxide, dried yeast fermentation solubles, zinc sulfate, selenium yeast, brewer's dried yeast, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D supplement, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, vitamin E supplement, niacin supplement, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin supplement, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin B12 supplement, folic acid, thiamine mononitrate, biotin, ethylenediamine dihydriodide.
I use this same concentrate to custom mix my Starter, Grower, Layer, and Breeder mix.

Now keep in mind that I do change this mix some by adding the Wheat, Oats, Fish Meal, Meat Meal, Alfalfa Meal, Molasses, Cod Liver Oil.
Chris
Corn is all the basic you need to add? Cracked corn? I'd love to do this. There's no price, how much for a 50 lb bag? Maybe I could keep it simple and mix it with the corn, then make another mixture of wheat, oats, etc to use as scratch? Would that work? I'm going to put alfalfa in their pens (the vet said it's great for them).
The closest dealer for the Chick-En-Egg Concentrate is showing 85 miles away, and that's if they're even still a dealer. I really like the idea of mixing my own grains but I don't really know the amounts to mix. If I can use this Chick-En-Egg stuff it'll make it a lot easier.
