This was kind of funny, so thought I'd share…

Yesterday, I heard hens yelling loud, so I went into the henhouse to investigate. Noticed Brownie (our RIR roo) in one of the nestboxes and getting cozy, while 20 hens yelled at him to get out of the box. You can see the hen in front giving him an earful. lol Afterward, he stepped out and crowed six times.

Now for the strange part- there was an egg in the box afterward. Not saying the egg is his...lol

(Have seen him mating the hens) but, he was in the box for at least a half an hour.

Does anyone have an idea on what's up?

I have heard that some roosters will sit in the box to let the girls know its a great place to lay their eggs, although I haven't seen either of my roosters do this, they do go into the coop and "call" the girls in

My Roo will also sit in the box and encourage the girls to put their eggs down. They all adore him.
