Roo or hen? HELP!!!!

He's very likely to do some crowing. There's always the chance he could turn mean, but most roosters do not.

It's your choice whether you wish to keep him or not. Do what is right for you and your family. There are resources available if you wish to re-home him.

Well my kiddos would be devastated if we have to re-home him...but I guess we'll see how he grows and develops in terms of his personality & extent of crowing. We are in a neighborhood so I don't want it to drastically affect our neighbors. Also saw a crow collar which could be worth a shot if he gets loud.

Personally, I hate the crow collars but that's your choice. If you neighbors don't have probs with it during the day but they do during the night, you can build a rooster box.

Good to know. I know nothing about them so this is all new to me.

I used to live in a small neighborhood and we got chickens they never got bothered by the crowing later I believe they got about 3 game roosters and they crowed constantly and a few others around also got chickens
