Hi! I got this chicken while back ago advertised as gold comet. Wanted a sex link so I could tell sex early (4 weeks old when I bought em). Anyway I was sure this was a hen since comet roo's as light yellow. But I'm pretty sure this is a Roo....also this bird is huge compared to my other hens.... What do you all think..? Thanks!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. It's definitely not a Golden Comet, but it is a mixed breed cockerel (possibly an Easter Egger if he carries the blue egg gene). Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Howdy jakeotter and Welcome to BYC

Yep, put me down as a vote for Boy; actually, a very handsome Boy! I hope you are able to keep him.

I vote for boy too. Hope that's not a big problem?

Lots of people get red sexlinks, but don't realize they aren't a true breed, but a cross breed. Because of this, they don't realize that you can't breed to sexlinks together and still get sexlinked chicks. That's why if you want sexlinks, you need to buy from a hatchery or someone who knows what they are doing. Not everybody with chickens knows how to breed sexlinks.
Having said that, you have a cockerel on your hands.
