This one and another one look like they stand a little more upright and taller than the others so I thought I would ask. I really can't have roosters where I live, so I want to find out before he starts crowing.
I venture to guess, roo, bc of saddle feathers curvature and thick legs.
I am puzzled as to why the comb and wattles are not larger tho.... pic doesn't show feather shape to well. Take a CLOSE look at the hackle (neck) feathers to see if they are slim and pointed. If so, ROO for sure.
If so, then it is only about 12 weeks old, not 16 weeks, and I will take back my 'pullet' answer. There is a big difference in development between 12 & 16 week old cockerels. This chicken still has a small comb and rounded sickle feathers - I still don't see any definite signs of roo, but at 12 weeks of age, I think it could go either way. Can you take a close-up of its comb?
I am going for hen put her/him with a rooster. if its a roo they fight -remove quick. if its a hen well nature will take its course. does it flaten out when you try to catch it or run. a hen will flatten out for a roo.
