We have a broiler (cornish x cross) we rescued about 4 months ago and for the longest time we thought it was a hen; however, I think it's a roo. What do you think? Sorry if this is an obvious question but I'm new to chickens
Ok....I never answer these thing but I just might be right. If the feathers on the neck are pointy instead of rounded....they are rooster feathers. If there are feathers in front of the tail feathers that are skinny and pointy....they are rooster feathers. And from the back you can tell a hen because their feathers go together like the old fashioned haircut....a DA....Ducks A _ _...you know? And a roosters legs are thicker than a hens. All the tale, tale signs that I missed on mine when I first got them. Yours looks like a rooster.....besides his tail feathers are longer. If I am wrong, and I might be, I have not learned a thing.
Rooster. But I must say - He's pretty healthy, fit, and clean looking for a Cornish X. You sure he's a Cornish X and not a cross? (I mean, a Cornish X x something else. . . )
