Your roosters also isn't pure barred rock, he only has one barred parent as he's dark colored like a pure barred rock hen. Pure roosters are much lighter colored overall.

I'm sure that's probably true, I guess it's a good thing my chickens are just pets. My kids were very excited about having a zebra chicken
