OK this goes out to all those raising polish! How do you know when a roo is a roo! This summer I bought what I thought was 2 hens (This years chickens) but now I think one might be a Roo due to the fact I am seeing little nubs on the back of his legs that I think may be spurs and I am not sure when the dred locks come out and become prominent! I cant get a good pic of him yet but havent given up! Note I have never seen my roo mount her/him whichever! What is the age you can tell?????

I'm not a polish breeder, but hens can also have spurs

We have polish and the feathers are how we can tell even before the combs and at 20 weeks we still do not have spurs of any kinds. The hens have rounded feathers on their heads and perfect little bouffant feather doos. The roosters have pointy feathers. Their saddle feathers are also pointy and shiney compared to the hens.
