Here is a pic of one of my RIR girls when she was 12 weeks old. The comb on yours says rooster but the feathering doesn't say rooster yet. My guess may lean toward a hen now. By the way I live in Pawling NY. Just 10 miles from you. Myself and Buff Hooligans lived in Carmel years ago. Welcome to BYC.

I think it's a pullet. Not only that, I think it will probably lay soon. Look at how red the comb is and all the more it developed in five weeks. I not sure about the "sickle" feather either. I have a hen that has a weird feather on her tail like that too. I don't think it's truly a "sickle", just an oddball long tail feather. Besides there should be a lot of black and beetle green in the tail, if it were a boy. Plus, I don't see any hackles or pointy saddle feathers forming. It could be a really late bloomer, but I really doubt it.

I think it's a pullet too. I'm not seeing any pointy saddle feathers at all. Definately not a rooster.
