My husband picked up some straight run chicks from Crosshatch Farm in Xenia OH. This breeder specializes in Olive eggers and Marans. They were approx 2 weeks old at pickup, and about 9 weeks now, and were harchmates. One was very obviously a roo (crowing, at 7 weeks and huge wattles/comb) and has found a new home. This one, I'm not sure. It looks the most strongly like a maran. It isn't crowing or showing any kind of rooster behaviors that I have seen and is extremely skittish. Is there any chance it could just be combing faster? Also including a p
I would guess that it is a Marans X cockerel.
This makes my third roo this year, and all but this batch were bought sexed. I'm having the worst luck.
