Roo went after my 5 year old.....

I agree that there is a little more to the roo, but he has been walking on thin ice for some time......and I have 12 chicks waiting in the brooder,,,,,wondering if one of them is a roo.
I love having the roo,, and when he was attacked it was protecting his girls while freeranging. I am sooo torn.

I have had no craiglist luck. My rooster is beating up my other rooster. They used to be best friends. They don't even have hens to fight over. Lucky (for him) he hasn't attacked me yet, he'll be meat.

...did you find him on craigslist?

Good question...is there any hope??

I have had the same problem before where my rooster would chase little kids and even me and have solved it. there are 4 options

1. Have the child person attacked pet the rooster everyday to make him feel safe

2.Approach the rooster aggresivly everytime you go near the flock for eggs and etc

3.Simply fight the rooster man to man until he knows whos boss.(my grandma did this to the bantam and stunned him when she smacked him and he hasnt chased anyone since)

4.Rooster stew

Just be careful if want him to be spared the death penalty - Most people on CL that I have dealt with are just out for a free chicken dinner (to a good home - of course)!

Option 4 was our only choice - "Bobby" was spoiled by my kids and even after several heart-2-heart's with him he still had an attitude with me.
Some people may find this offensive but that is one of the things I enjoy about raising chickens - you can always make the bad ones dinner and thus make room for new ones every year!

we did that to one of our chickens because my gramps didnt like it attacking me so he shot it with the pellet gun but he didnt drop so we were forced to cull him so he didnt suffer.when we went camping we put him on the pit for a few hours. He was a neat rooster everytime he crowed he d make a funny noise because he ran put of air

R.I.P
Chicken Joe ^_^
