Roo's comb half black and falling over.....??

I saw the teenagers dirt bathing the other day so maybe he will join them. He alternates from indoor to outdoor. Sometimes free ranges but no further than under the porch lol. I have a fan in the coop and when it's awful and nasty I bring everyone inside.

Not sure about the leghorn, his father looked like a big fat snowman and my roo looked just like his mom (that's why we thought he was a she) His crow is pretty bad, but not as ear wrenching as my Serama (which is months older).

We just lost one with similar symptoms. Comb turned blue, emaciated. According to chicken health handbook it could be from lack of enough water. She was low on the pecking order, so other hens may have kept her from the water.

Wow, i'm sorry to hear that. Mine is not deprived of anything or picked on, so i'm not sure! I'm trying to find him a new gf to cheer him back up. His girl dying prob hasnt helped.

I think she had sour crop. I came across it on the internet, went and felt her crop and it was indeed 'airy', squishy and empty. I tried to expell it and I think it took the last bit of life out of her (died 20 min later) I got her from a tiny dog pen that housed about 10 other hens. I had her a few weeks, during which I wormed/de-mite/liced everyone, bathed and tried to fatten her up. I think she was a lost cause from the beginning, but the sour crop was the only thing I could come up with.

My roo's crop is normal, but I notice him staring at the wall instead of turning the other way and facing everything else....

He doesn't pig out as much as he used to but still eats good. The skin on his face was more red than it used to be, but that could have been from the vaseline and/or messing with him.

Most of his droppings are normal, except sometimes i'll see brown/clay colored and just slightly diarrhea-ish. Which could be from feeding him bread, mashed potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes, treats he's not very used to yet. Or maybe he steals some chick food every once in a while!

Just found him a new GF!

A little while a go, I looked over at them sitting on top of the parrot/chicken cage and they were both facing and staring at the wall!

Maybe they are perfect for each other haha

So his comb is still lopsided but he's acting fine. Skin is a little more colorful and he's got plenty of ladies to keep him occupied.

Should I still worry?

What about poultry conditioner or giving him chick feed? Would that 'straighten' him out?

Silkies are supposed to have mulberry to black skin on their combs. Maybe what you are seeing is normal. Some variation of comb colour due to circulation changes during the day is normal.

Oh yea, his skin is fine, it's the comb that's got an issue. I was thinking maybe something was wrong with the circulation but his face is just peachy! (or mulberry-y
