I am, I am!!!

ah dont get yer panties in a bunch....my posts were only about half as absurd as some of the other posts in this thread, and i really had to try. There is a 50% chance that they will be deleted anyway.

I shouldn't be amazed, I hope the OP works out things with her neighbor, but I still wonder at the attitudes of many people on this forum.

Yikes...it's country vs country...or should I say country vs mountain.
Though I am in the Rocky Mountains of CO, We have a country store and a feed store down the street. Our housing loan is from the Dept.of Agriculture and our town is listed as rural. Best of both worlds I guess. Don't get me started with mountain vs flatlander.
I think even if your in the "country" there's different sets of circumstances and expectations from each area, then there's the neighbor factor. We've been blessed with the best neighbors.
I just got a rooster that crows mostly in the mornings. Some days more than others. I asked our neighbors next door if it was bothersome. They said they didn't mind it, and it couldn't possibly be more boisterous than their dogs. The other neighbors said they could barely hear him. We're all on about 2 acres. I definitely would offer eggs to all neighbors, it kind of includes them in some way and is a good pay off for some noise. If the other neighbors are happy, they may stand up for you. If you are not breaking any ordinances, you should be fine. Good luck!

I would try to get along with your neighbors if at all possible. In a pinch, it is good to have neighbors that you can rely on, or ask a favor of. Heck, you might even make some friends. Go around to your neighbors and ask them if the roosters are really bothering them. If it is unanimous, I would rethink the situation. If it is only that one guy--is it possible to move the roosters away from him, into an insulated barn, etc... I had to get rid of my rooster because it was driving one neighbor, and apparently my husband, nuts! It is not caving to compromise, in order to keep the neighborhood peace, and hopefully they would return the favor someday.

I really think you could make neighborly with those people....just take your two worst offending roosters to his house and ask him which one he wants to kill. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't kill either one and he would feel pretty stupid and back down.

Then offer them some eggs. It's worth a shot anyway.

Bad neighbors suck, but some of us have them. Revenge comes with time and patience. You will out last them.

I saw no mention of children. Let me go back and read the OP. Do not call any state, or federal agency. Nothing good ever comes from gov. intervention.

Hi from Conifer! We're rural too, I'm guessing. We're surrounded by people with lots of livestock and barking dogs. We just happen to have a few uppity neighbors. I'd love to head down to Pine and get more land. Which feed store do you own?

I've been thinking about the roos. My serama roo will stay until my roo chick is bigger. Sir Crows-a-lot doesn't have good type, so I won't breed him. I just don't have another friend for my tiny serama hen, and I'm afraid my banties will eat her a live (she's 12.5 oz). My blue cochin roo gets to stick around until my buff cochins are laying. He's got the right coloring to hopefully create a lemon blue cochin, which is my goal with him. He's starting to get really mean though, so I'm not sure how much longer I'd like him around. The last little roo is pretty quiet, so he gets to stay regardless.

Calling CPS: The only reason to call CPS ever is if you have a legitimate concern over the safety and welfare of a child. They are typically over-stretched as it is. If they waste their time as pawns in a feud some other child is going to suffer.
