Roos wearing the back feathers off the hens.....

I just locked up my 1 year old BO roo, in the last few months seems like he is getting more agressive with the hens and bald backs on a few and one I just noticed has feathers missing on her head from him grabbing there to steady himself. I have a guy coming who buys roo's, I'll just leave it at that.

I kept him around because he is totaly non agressive to any human BUT I cant have him riding the hens like that. I have two Black Maran 11 week old cockerels, that will give the hens time to get all pretty again and I can see how I like the BM roo's and how they act to me and the hens. I do put my cockerels through human boot camp to, they must behave or they go bye bye.

Well I was pleased to read this thread. We have 17 girls and 1 Rooster-Max. Max has worn the feathers off so many of the girls. Some of them he grabs by the head and they are getting bald too. There are 3 or 4 that he doesn't seem to bother. Our girls run from him when he tries to mount them. He is so very hard on them. He is not a mean rooster by any means. Anyone, as far as people go, can go up to him. My husband has made sure he is not mean. He picks him up all the time and pets him. He is actually a nice rooster. Not aggressive at all, but our poor chickens with their bald backs and bottoms.
We have thought to separate them and give him less time with the girls. Has anyone ever tried that?
