Hi Vinnie.
I think the norm. is 1' per regular sized chicken butt.
I have 6 birds and 6' of roost - it's working 'ok' but my girls are a bit on the 'wide load' side and they're really packed on there. I'm hoping to change it out for 8' very soon.
