We have an Americana Rooster who was attacked by dogs about 3 or 4 days ago. He is looking better than he did. His left wing was pretty much torn off. My boyfriend and I prefer not to mess with nature but I am extremely concerned. We have 4 hens and another rooster and didn't put the injured one in with the others, he is in his own coop till he heals. However I noticed yesterday that there are maggots from blow flies in the part of the wing that is not attached and the aroma coming from the chicken tractor is horrific. I want to do something but not sure what to do. Anyone have any suggestions. I have looked for a vet that does chickens in the area and none are to be found. I thought about Hydrogen Peroxide but not sure that would be the best. Please help.

Vetricyn actually works! Might give it a try, sounds like just what he needs. I would clean it up a bit first, but probably don't bandage unless you keep seeing flies and their little nasty babies.

Just my opinion, but if he were mine, I'd put him down. I tried to save a roo after a coon attack and thought it was working, but he took a turn for the worse and we didn't want him to suffer. Since you have another roo and only four hens....
There are many threads on here about dealing with injured birds if you decide to go that route. Just do a search for them. Be prepared to clean, bandage, possibly inject antibiotics, and isolate the roo while all this is going on. Good luck.

Where can I get this from as I said no vets around that do anything for chickens. I read somewhere on another post about a spray on bandage, Do you think that would help?
