I have the nicest roo, and it was getting dark and they follow me. So I ran into the coop to get them there sooner and I felt two sharp pains in the back of my leg joint. HE bit me. He had never show any aggression whats up with that did he feel threatened?

He attacked you because he thought you were running away from him. Roosters fight, and usually one winds up running away while the "winner" pecks and scratches at the loser. Your rooster sees you as a competitor for his hens or territory, and is showing dominance. Most roosters who act this way were raised as pets, and have imprinted on humans as flock members. It is best not to make pets of roosters, as they often become aggressive when they reach maturity. It's very hard to break them when they get mean.
