I am curious about this. Which breed of rooster generally has the loudest crow? Maybe one day I will have lots of land and get the loudest damn rooster I can find.
People on here are always wanting quiet roosters or devises/surgeries to stop a rooster from crowing. I want a rooster that crows and lets everyone around know he's there. My father had a Turken ("Naked Neck") rooster with a very loud crow.
That may be generally true, but I am not sure. If it is, breeds like Langshan, Brahma, and Jersey Giant should be some of the loudest. I am not sure if that is the case, though.
I have a 20 month old BJG. He doesn’t crow a lot - many times a day, but really not often. He has a deeper crow than other males. Loud, but not that ear splitting note. Tha dark brown leghorn males wouldn’t shut up and they were loud. We got rid of them around 5 months and I did not miss their crowing - it was annoying. They were colorful and attractive though, so definite plus for their very rooster-like appearance, and great tail feathers. we had a talkative and loud Black Copper Marans, but hormonal and aggressive do we sold him at approx 5 months. We had a BA, not excessive crowing but more than the BJG. Loud, clear, good crowing. had an EE- never crowed. currently have 2 Dorkings, but they are just hitting puberty, no crows yet.
Wow, that is a long crow. He is not the loudest crower, but that is the longest crow I have heard from a rooster.
Long crow roosters or laughing roosters would be my first choice. Good luck getting the latter to the western world though.
I got the BJG is a Black Jersey Giant. EE is Easter Egger. Is a BA a Black Australorp? So the loudest is the Jersey Giant?
