Its funny cuz he has bright orange feathers u cant see along the edge of his wings, and one yeallow feather peeks through his hackle feathers. I will try to get better color pics.

Some are noisy....but I've noticed that they will be more vocal when there are a few extra Roosters...ends up as a crow off...stress will cause more crowing....it's spring! They find that something to crow about...it sounds strange, but I can tell my Roosters that I've had enough! And it's time to shut up! Sometimes it seems to work! If they get to carried away at watering time....I've cooled the vocals with a quick squirt from the hose...use the same technique on my big white rock roo, when he decides to test his luck...and forgets who's in charge....I don't want a 12 pound rooster spurring me. Usually he grabs my pant leg and tugs on it like a dog....but if he includes the feet...he gets hosed. Sorry got away from the original question. Stress, spring, hormones, you name it...all reason to crow. They seem to quite down once the pecking order is established.

LOL! I forgot about spriiiingtime! And squirting the ankle biter is a grand idea. There's a few other roosters in the neighborhood but they crow at reasonable times and intervals. Nero has been NON STOP all day today since 0500 with eyes wide in a blank expression. I just hope the neighbours don't flip. He's sleeping in a dog crate in the bathroom tonight and we'll see how that goes.

I've never had a rooster, as in our town we are not allowed. However, just three blocks away or so is out of the town limits and apparently there are roosters. I know this as a random rooster wandered into my yard (I keep hens and ducks). I tried animal control and they don't deal with livestock. Called the sheriff's dept and he chased it around my yard, full uniform, gun and everything but we couldn't catch him. Oh well. Guess I have a rooster.

He's a standard size Old English Game rooster. Seems mellow enough. Hasn't attacked me, although he doesn't back off and is very vigilant. Alerted by crowing at midnight the other night that there was a predator in the yard (cat/dog). He roosts in the trees and does not go in the chicken coop at night as of yet.

Thanks for starting this thread. Any advice on roosters in general and OEG in particular would be great!
