Six weeks into my second flock of seven (raccoons ate through my first flock last summer) with 3 Ameracaunas, 2 Anconas and 2 Golden Sex Links ... it looks like a have an Ameracauna rooster and an Ancona rooster, so the question - is it advisable to keep both? if not, is one breed or the other better to keep? I'm in a traditional single family neighborhood with generally accepting neighbors ...

Back out to finish upgrading the coop fortifications ...

thanks! Jim

With only 7 hens, 2 roos would worry the poor things to death. Plus they will feed off of each other and having crowing competitions, which can turn generally accepting neighbors into straight up haters. Keep them for a while and see which one has the better personality. IMO- a rooster with lots of character and personality (a nice one) is better than a gorgeous, onery boy any day. Good luck!

The ancona will probably me more aloof but individual characteristics may vary.
The question is also, do you want chicks? If so do you want their offspring to lay a more whitish egg or a more greenish egg.
Do you plan on eating the roos?
The ancona will have less meat regardless of age.
