Rooster constantly watching us?

We rescued an 7yr old rooster during lockdown, and for the first couple of months none of his behaviors were abnormal, until about a week ago when he stands on the back porch watching us. We have a full wall window door, that shows the entire kitchen, and he just stands there and watches us.
He goes to bed by himself, but only at the latest possible moment, and immediately when he gets let out in the morning, he returns to the spot and stays there until the day is over .

He doesn’t want to come inside the house, if we open the door to come inside he just ignores it and stands there anyways.

We thought maybe it’s because Mama (one of his hens) was sleeping inside the house, as she’s sick, but for the past few days she’s been out and about?

We treated the whole flock today for lice, he has the bulk of it as he isn’t too flexible and the weather has been crap (wet sand in the dust bath) so could that have any correlation? i don’t know. i’m worried about him, is this an illness?

that was our thoughts too, but why now? why not when he first got here? we’ve had him a good 3 months

Maybe it took him this long to find the glass door to look through, or to feel comfortable that close to you?

Mine do this too haha. They’ll sneak up on the porch and run at their reflection. I think they think it’s another chicken and they love to stand and look at their selves lol

I had a buff brahma who used to stare at me every time I went to sit on the porch. I finally picked her up and put her on my lap and low and behold, she settled down and took a nap. Now it's a routine: I porch sit while she lap sits. Maybe he just wants a good snuggle? To be clear though, I know my chicken's behavior is not "normal" for a chicken.

He may have been an indoor roo in the past since some people can’t have Roos and keep them indoors. He may just have gotten warmed up to y’all and wanna be with y’all.

I thought the same thing. Maybe he discovered this other rooster in the glass, and he has to stand guard.
