Ok so, it has been a week sence my neighbors complained to our other nieghbor (sherif) about our rooster (my baby boy Braveheart) crowing at 4:30 in the morning and all day. To stand up for him,one he is young and just started crowing and is starting to get the hang of it and two it is his job to wake up the farmer and the girls!!!! UURRGGGG it gets on my nervs!!! Now, he has gotten better and is starting at 6:00 in the morning and crowing at certain parts of the day. I dont want to give him to someone only because he is my baby and i dont want him to be meat to someone. Is there anything i could get my dad to build for him? like a sound proof shed or something? I would also be willing to give him to a good home if he can be kept as a pet. Pm if you are looking for a pet rooster. Ill give details in a email. Please help!!!!

Are you legal? If so, you don't have to worry. If not, I guess you have to find him a home. It's his job to crow, he'll do it for many reasons. He crows to gather the girls together, and also as a warning. And some times just because he feels like it!

As long as you can legally have roosters, and as long as your parents are okay with the neighbor occasionally complaining, then don't sweat it. However, if your parents want to get rid of the rooster (due to the complaints), then you can advertise in Craigs List to try to find him a new home. There are never guarantees that he won't be eaten eventually though, but at least that gives him a chance...

Is it legal to have a Rooster where you live?

For example, I live in a neighborhood and our city has clear rules that state we can have the girls but not the roosters.

I would get rid of the rooster. Good relationships with neighbors is more important, in my opinion, than a chicken. But that's just me. My chickens aren't pets, so that makes a difference. Maybe you can help your dad build an insulated coop (they're YOUR chickens, right?) after you've earned enough money for the matierials. (Or do chores, babysit, or something to pay your dad back.) I hope you can work it out.
