my cornish cross which is a pet started crowing about 2 months ago, but now hes doing it earlier and more frequently. whenever he does it i run outside and give him food which he immediately starts eating and temporarily forgets about crowing. i live around people and i know they might complain. is there ANY way to make him quieter?

I don't think so the only thing i can think of is possibly rehoming him. I have had to do this with several roos and its hard but something that has to be done from time to time

I don't know you can get him to stop, but it sounds like you're training him to crow more for treats. He crows, you run out with food. I would think doing that will escalate things.

I have heard that some people cover the bird up until after 8am or so: if they don't see the light they won't crow.

As far as during the day he is louder if he does not have enough hens, if he has competition with other roos or if he is startled.

One of my roos crows in the dark of night, the others wait until the first tiny glimpse of dawn before starting.

I had one black australorp roo that crowed all day and had to rehome him to one of our members here. The member had him quarantined for a week and he got out and disappeared. There is a rc airplane flying club 1/2 mile down the road and he ended up there and moved into their storage shed. Now they feed him and he has become their mascot. They think it is great. Crowing the them is music to their ears. Just had to share. John

Cornish X are known for heart and leg problems so re-homing him may not be an option as someone might not want to get attached only to have him die. You may find someone to take him to eat him or you could always eat him yourself before he gets any heart or leg problems.
Just a thought, but I know it is easier said than done when it is your pet.

There is suppose to be an operation that a vet can perform to remove the voice box. I've never heard of anyone that has had it done.
