Rooster doesn't know how to "Do it"

Funny about the name change. When I was a kid we had rooster named Butch and his one and only lady named Millie. Well at one point Millie started to crow and we changed it to Willie.

Are your hens willing to mate with your roo (doing the hen squat, etc.) or are they running away screeching and making him chase them? If they're accepting the roo, they're probably getting close to laying. It could be any day now!

It is pretty amazing how quickly chicken mating is accomplished. Blink, and you'd miss it.

if the hens are not ready yet he knows it and may not be giving them the time of day until they/re ready to breed. he and they will be a little older by then and you should see some results then...if not may need to cull him

Roxie needs a name change to Rocky! Pull his hair back into a ponytail and let him loose.

Seriously, if the pullets are laying eggs, he should be interested. No hurry, he will start when he is ready. Just like humans, some of us start early and some start late and maybe some never do?

Go Rocky,

When he grabs their neck is he on their backside too? Mating only takes a few seconds, like 5 seconds. Doesn't count if he is along side the hen.

You said the girls aren't laying yet? Could that be a reason why? I thought roosters would only mate with laying hens. Or close to laying hens. I could be very wrong but that's what I thought...?
