Rooster Dying????

OK, I did clean a bunch of gunk out. I couldn't get it all. It did start bleeding... And you were right, he was quite distressed so I'm certain it was hurting him a lot. When I put him back in the cage, he acted dead. Not moving...eyes closed, mouth open. Poor fella.

I did put some triple antibiotic in and all around his ear. I also gave him some Amoxicillan.

Hopefully that will get him through until I get home on Thursday afternoon. 🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏

Hopefully this will help it drain some while you are gone.

I figured it may stress him. Electrolytes for a couple of days while you are gone would be good if your family can mix some up for him. If you don't have that, a little sugar water (1tsp per 1cup water) to give him a little boost to stabilize his glucose levels.

I meant to find the video last night, but forgot! It would be nice to find some of those "cupped" tools that he has, maybe on amazon. I need to look.

That's his ear?
Yep... I noticed he was tilting his head like a toddler with an ear infection but I couldn't see anything when I first put him in an outdoor quarantine pen. I realized after 3 days he was getting worse but I thought it was the wry neck/neurological issue.

I had no idea he had this huge plug of dried pus/infection in his ear and head. No wonder he's been so sick. I hope the 5 days of doxycycline helped somewhat.

Per Wyorp's suggestion, I've switched him to Amoxicillan. Hopefully he can get by until I get back on Thursday.

That video needs a warning label... 🤮

Yeah, that's not going to be fun. In fact, I might seriously puke trying to do it. But I can't just let him suffer so I guess I'll just put some vicks vapor rub in my nose and suck it up.

On the bright side, I think I have some of those scooped tools which will help.

😂 Sorry!

Glad it's not an eye pus or eye worm video then, that would have been bad. FYI, eye worms are fairly rare in the US except in tropical areas, but they are pretty common in other parts of the world. It's interesting to see, but disturbing to see a mass of tiny worms with pus pushed out of a chicken's eye. Yep. I'm not sure If I can find a video on that anymore or not. YT blocks things, I wonder why🫣
