OH, I was happy to see a mail regarding this thread... was hoping we'd have an update on how the tough guy is doing?

Did you find anywhere in your coop that a rotten predator could have gotten in? Or does your vet agree that it was a rooster fight?
 
It could have been from the other rooster. If he got a good hold on the comb and then raked the rooster's back with his toenails.

As fluffy as a Silkie is too damage would be hard to see until things took a turn for the worse.

To cover all bases though I think it would be wise to install a hardware cloth apron around the coop and run just in case it was a critter that got in. Something could have squeezed under the edge if it's a mobile tractor style set-up, this summer we had a skunk breach a pen that had a 1in gap under one side.
 
Hey everyone!! He has made it home!! I picked him up this morning before work, he is doing well!! He is now eating on his own so they were able to send him home.

The vet administered a 7 day antibiotic before he left today, he had been on 2 strong ones since he got there. They were unable to sew his comb shut right now...

The vet said that he would like to wait a month to make sure everything heals up fine. So until then it will be open to his sinus cavity. Both of his eyes look great! He is perky and happy it seems. He just needs a little time to get his handsome looks back!! The vet said that it possibly could have been from the other rooster but he is leaning towards an intruder. I am thinking the only way one could have gotten in was to push the roof up and slide in the house. So we have nailed that down good and tight. Other than that I am the proud owner of a 400$ rooster! lol I will post updates throughout his recovery!! Thank you all again for your support!!
 
Yayyy. I was starting to wonder since we havent heard any updates but I am glad to hear he is doing great
