Well I am sad to announce my flock has had its first rooster fight. My three cockerals have torn in to eachother today. One boy doesnt have much damage other then his lobe is cut and is holding one eye shut. The other is bloody and his face is swollen. The third only has a cut on his chest. I knew this ay would come just though it would be later and would have had time to seperate them. Do they need any treatment to stop infection or should the heal fine without intervention. There is no deep or serious injuries. They will be seperated starting tomorrow.

Treatment is wise. A washcloth with warm water to clean things up. Bluekote, or neosporin/triple antibiotic ointment (WITHOUT PAIN RELIEF) should be solid for the rest. For the eye injuries specifically I would use terramycin ophthalmic ointment.

Chickens are messy and infections happen so a quick wash and rub some of this on once a day until it's well on the way to being healed should go a long way.

I'm assuming it's nighttime where you are?
I would separate them all now and access/tend to their wounds. Once scabbed over and blood is coagulated, it's just a little bit harder to flush/cleanse wounds and evaluate the damage (just my experience).

Look through feathers for any punctures you may have missed.

For bloody face and eyes, I make a saline solution to flush (1 teaspoon salt to 1 quart of water, boil 15 minutes to make sterile, let cool). I prefer something like triple antibiotic ointment on wounds for a few days, just makes it easier to see the healing process, I also don't worry so much if it gets in the eyes. Blu Kote works well too, just that Blu makes it hard for me to see - but I do use it once the healing really begins and I want to start putting the injured bird back with the flock.

Encourage them all to drink. Hydration is important. Fresh clean water, electrolytes, sugar water, poultry vitamins - whatever you can get into them.

As for any other medications/intervention - that would depend on the extent of the wounds. If superficial, usually just flushing and application of ointment is all you need + monitoring wounds for signs of infection.

Look forward to you photos, hope they all get better soon.

Will get pictures today after work. I believe the fight happened yesterday morning while i was at work because the blood was already dried and flaking off. They are separated right now so nothing else happens until i get home to figure out some permanent arrangement. I will be doctoring them up and taking your advice on the vitamin and electrolytes to make sure they have it in them. thanks for your advice!

Do you have a dog kennel or crate? Those work well for separation, at least for a few days until you can make something more permanent.
