Hello everyone I have heard of people having all male flocks they call them bachelor pads. I have three roosters two with one flock and one with another. My problem is they are all so territorial of the females we can’t enjoy them without getting attacked. I was thinking of moving all the males together and then moving all the females together. Has anyone had experience with this? Is this a terrible idea or might it work?

The roosters will get territorial and maybe even upset with the females so it'll be hard for the females, the 3 battling roo's, and you guys. Housing the hens together is fine, DON'T house the males together. That'll be dangerous and even fatal for the males. UNLESS you have enough room for them and food, water, sleeping space,etc... they'll have to establish pecking order, then that's fine if you have a Bachelor's pad! They'll get sexually upset and territorial and harm the other roosters. The best thing to do is to get more females, get rid of 2 of them, or show your dominance and block the roosters from hurting you guys... Hope that helps!

I love that you're wanting to start a bachelor pad vs. getting rid of them. I have a large rooster flock, and it's great. It functions the same way a hen flock does - with a pecking order, the occasional squabble, etc.

You do have to make some considerations, though, that you may not have to make with hens - extra feeders/waterers and extra space. Keeping them away from the hens will be important, too.

Do the boys get along when the hens aren't around? Are they aggressive with you when the hens aren't around? Some roosters are just rude - to people and to each other. The personalities involved will depend on how peaceful your flock is.

Roosters in a rooster-only flock generally fight less than roosters in a mixed sex flock.

@MilesFluffybutt has great advice.

Good catch (and correction.)

For my flock, it's never serious when they do fight - no blood, no injuries, no gore. Mostly, they raise their hackles, stare at each and growl for a couple of minutes before one takes off. Every once in a while, depending on the personalities involved, they'll spar for two rounds before one of them takes off. I only step in if they're sparring too close to something that could injure them or cause them to injure themselves.
