my rooster was one of a kind, he has never been able to crow, he just makes a small sound each time. and he is a good guardian to my hens and chicks, also gentle when jumping on my hens, så losing him was a big loss.

tonight when i went to check the chickens for the night, i couldn't find my rooster in the coop. i went outside to look for him, when i saw a pile of feathers everywhere under a bush. i then saw him laying 2 meters away from that. i could see that something had killed him. he was missing feathers from the back off his neck, and there is blood coming out of his mouth.
but i couldn't see any wounds on him, nothing. all that you see on the pics is all there is to see. i still dont know what killed him. plz if any of you have any idea of what could have done this plz tell me.
Ps. I have not noticed any sound coming from outside before i found him dead.

At least it's not going to terrorize your birds anymore.
It shouldn't have come back for more. I caught one on camera a couple of times. It was hard to see because the pictures were blurry, it was kind of running, but I could tell the snout and tail. I know coyotes will kill a bobcat if they can catch one and we have a lot of coyotes around. Hardly a night goes by, when they roam here, that I don't get a picture on one of my game cameras.

We're over run by coyotes this year. I see one, or two every other night. At least I haven't came across any Bobcats yet.

I agree with the weasel, though it could have also been a racoon that had dragged him off to save for later. Best thing to do is keep your girls cooped up as what ever it is will most likely be back so be extra vigilant and dispatch it when it comes back. Game cameras are nice but looks like the attack came while they were out free ranging so I would putat least one in the area they mostly are.
