well, being as he's a silkie, she should be able to snatch him up quick enough. Tote his fuzzy butt around. Or take a plastic storage tote out with her and put him in it till she's finished what she doing... You know turn it upside down over him. Punch some air holes. Otherwise there are some very yummy looking silkie soup recipes that the have from Asia...

Hey PamB I have a turken roo who big and thinks he owns the place he went after our grandson and knocked him down from behind, then ran away a couple days later he came after me and I had read that you have to show them your boss in front of the girls so I kicked him in the A-- sent him flyin in front of the girls which embarrassed him and the My girlfriend did it to him next time he went after her and now when either of us go by him he just cocks his head and makes noise. Bottom line is you have to make look foolish in front of the girls.

We had two roosters - a Brahma and an Astralorp. We decided to keep just one and butcher the Astralorp. He wasn't really mean, but he did seem a bit sneaky and the kids were scared of him.

I put him in a small cage for the day to clean out his system before butchering. DS didn't come to do the deed, so I decided to put the roo back in the coop. My granddaughter carried him around for a while and then let him go. The next week we again caged the Australorp for the day. Again DS didn't show. Grandson carried the roo around before letting him go in the coop. The third weekend I decided I'd take care of the job whether DS came or not.

That day, the Brahma took three chunks out of my granddaughter. We let the Australorp go and butchered the Brahma rooster. My Australorp has been a perfect gentleman since that time.

You could try something like that with your rooster. A day alone in time out followed by a football carry could be just what you and your daughter need. If nothing else it should put the fear of dumplings into him especially if your daughter does the taking out and walking about.

No culling! It's a silkie! My girls paint our silkies (including the rooster) nails bright pink, yellow, green...with spots, stripes etc. He just needs to know his place. Carry him around, bring him in the house and let her hold him while she walks around, watches TV... he needs to know she's not only the boss but his protector. I know it sounds crazy but the chicken is not going to kill or even seriously hurt an 11 year old.
