ok the nasty rooster is going to someones table he has attacked me and eyes up some kids . My question is the hens have been protected by him for a year now - will they keep their own watch for bad guys or will they be sitting ducks- oh there is also a silkie roo who has been the underling I don't know how much help he will be but he may try .

Hopefully he doesn't turn mean - his name is Snowball - with a name like that he should be sweet LOL !
I hope he's good at watching for the hawks not sure he can see so well wiht his compb and hair but we shall see - my oldest girl lived w.o a roo for a year so she may be street smart

I had a nasty roo I got rid of and the second in command stepped right up. Every once in awhile I approach him and as long as he runs from me he can stay.

So far he's a good boy that watches after his ladies, but doesn't attack the people. (However, he does have a "favorite" hen - the poor girl...)

As long as Snowball doesn't attack people he is good to go

Though most of my hens are bigger then him so if he has a favorite she may be able to get away if she wants

She may not want to... My little torn up hen is always shaking her tail feathers around him. He can barely help himself. Sheesh! They are like adolescents!

Now the people aren't taking him cause he's too small to eat -
