Rooster has a broken beak (straight across the lower beak, very close to the face)

I realized something was wrong yesterday when my rooster was being particularly aggressive with the hens and ducks about food. Then I noticed that his beak was not closing. On closer inspection, that was because the lower beak is cracked all the way across, so it bends downward, creating a gap. This is as closed as his beak can get now:

I have seen that many people use superglue and an empty tea bag to set the beak so it can repair itself. But I don't know how to get the bottom beak to the right place before supergluing it. The best option seems to be to tie or rubber band it to the top beak to get the right alignment. But that also seems like a terrible thing to do.

I've been syringe feeding him water and giving him egg yolks which he can eat on his own.

Any ideas for saving his beak (and him)?

I think your plan would work. Super glue needs one minute to set up, so a rubber band wouldn't be cruel to the rooster. If that beak breaks off, the pain would be horrible, and he'd have a rough time eating for the rest of his life.

Thanks for weighing in! Unfortunately, on closer inspection (and after talking to my daughter about what she remembers), I think he has had this injury for a couple of weeks. It's already healing in the position it's in. I don't know that there's anything I can do :(

Hey there, just wondering how you went with your boys beak? My baby boy has got a small chip on his beak in the same spot and I'm freaking out 😭 He used to be a house rooster due to being attacked by the others so badly and recently I started taking him out to one of the enclosures with a few hens. Unfortunately another rooster got him through it and I don't know what to do. Not as bad as your boys but no avian vets ANYWHERE here. Not even within a 5 hour radius. He's my baby and I'm so scared 😭
I hope your boy is doing alright 💜💜💜💜

Somehow it healed up almost completely on its own. I still don’t totally understand how, but it just closed over time. Their beaks are kind of like fingernails, always growing and able to repair themselves to a degree. So I’d bet your roo’s chipped beak will heal just fine too!
