I post yesterday in the topic owls and what I should to stop the owl from coming back. Well he came back kill one rooster and the other rooster is injured. The injure is to his head and eyes. His head and neck is bloody and so is beak. He was in so much shock that he was just standing their. He is now in the house in a dog training cage. I cleaned the blood out of his beak. But my many worry is his eyes. Could his eyes be swollen shut? Should I try Triple anibotic ointment on him. When was atack by a dog that what I used and he got better but that was his back. This his head. Should I wait a day and see if his eye are going to open before treatment. Please help me what should I do?

No, I do not think he will need to be put down. And I do not exactly know if his eyes are swollen, but I think they should be.

Thanks for your help. We are really worry for him. 1st the dog attack in feb and now owl attack. Hopefully he get better. I hope the owl doesn't come back for my ducks.

Also, have you tried a flashing red light for the dogs? The company is called Nite Guard. the flashing red light to a dog is like a human, blinking. We have many raccoons but no chickens have been taken. We but the nite Guard up to eye level for the predator. Hope this helps!

It has been since Thursday 4am since my rooster be attack by the owl he is not doing good. His eyes are still not open and his beak has blood on it again and he keeps going to sleep or like he going to sleep. He is hold head to the side. He is standing and making sounds. What to do keep waiting or try something or put him down.

I try washing the eye and opening it but the eyes are gone and underhis neck had turn blue. My mother said that it was best we put him down. Because he could not see to eat and the blood keeps coming back so he must had internal bleeding. We had to put him down so sad. I am going to miss my three chickens. All left is ducks and goose. We like to try chicken again but have to real predators proof the pen. I never thought cry over a chicken.

Very sorry for your loss. Best of luck predator proofing your coop and run so when you get chickens again you will not have to endure anymore heart ache. Good luck :hugs
