Hope someone can help, we don't know what to do!! Our Leghorn rooster has a the tip of the top beak broken off but more importantly, it looks like the bottom jaw may be broken as he can't seem to move it at all. He always has his mouth open and is having great difficulty eating.

It has been 3 days and it is no better.

If he can't eat, or more importantly can't drink, he will die. You can try giving him water using a syringe--just drip it in along his beak slowly as you don't want to drown him. But really if after three days and he is still not improving, the most merciful thing to do may be to cull him and get him out of misery.

Does the jaw look out of place? It it swollen or extra hot? Perhaps it is just painful so he won't eat. Dissolve 3-4 baby aspirin to a gallon of water and give him some, being careful not to aspirate him... aim for the very left of his mouth, away from the hole right behind his tongue..... Feed him baby parrot feeding formula mixed with water/ canned warm dog food/ scrambled eggs.. what ever you can get down him and give him some liquid baby vitamins. See if that might bring him around. If not it may be best to end his suffering. Sorry this is your first post with us... Best Wishes.
