My big boy is really ill. To narrow it down he can't hold his head up. Is not alert at all. No eating or drinking. Just sleeps. Has mucous coming from nales. Ive been giving him electrolite for some fluids but it has to injected. 20 cc at most. Poop is yellow liquid and a drop of solid something. His head is really hot. I tried the crop cleansing but doesn't seem to be issue. I thought it was heat stroke as he had been in the enclosure with high90s temp direct sun. I'm doing everything I can think of. He is having difficulty breathing. Please help. Have no vet either that treats farm animals.

It sounds like it could be a respiratory ailment. Was there any coughing or wheezing?

Tylosan is the go to for respiratory ailments (they sell it at tractor supply), but I am not sure that is what is going on since I have only read about it and never seen it myself. Hopefully someone with more experience can weigh in on what they think is going on.

Is there no shade in your chicken run? Can you cool his legs in a pan of cool (not ice cold) water? He may have heat stroke. How long has he had nasal drainage? How does his crop feel? If you have Poultry Cell or NutriDrench you can give up to 3 ml orally very slowly, a drop at a time. Try dipping his beak into some cool water to drink if he is alert enough. Try to make some shade later for your chickens with shade cloth, a tarp , or even with a table set in the run or yard.

A followup. He's been in my tub for 2 days now. He's having difficulty breathing. He sounds phlegm and bubbly every so often when up. Does anyone have doxy-tyl they can spare overnight. Can't find it locally. I have to orally syringe feed him liquid. Using pedialite with a,generic anti biotic. His hot head is cooler but still No Energy at all.

Another thread followup. Someone recommended doxy-tyl. Working well. He is eating independently but is still active g absolutely strange. I have a video but don't know how to attach it to this. He wants to stay up and I think alert but he will take some kibble and the put his head on the and what seems like a 10 second cat nap. Hscpicks his head back up gives it a shake then eats again. This has happened about 10x during his food fest. Any ideas?

Whether it was an infection or heat stroke, if he is improving I would keep doing what you are doing.

Do you need help or ideas for providing shade? Do you think that was the issue?

You need to call a vet. I know you said you dont have one but you need to call defra or your vershion of it where you live. In the UK defra will help you. They will put you in contact with someone and even come to you free of charge to inspect. They are there to help and will. Ive called defra before and they are very helpfull. They inspect my bee hives on a regular basis

You need to call a vet.
Vets can be ideal, yes, but if they are not an avian vet it may not be worth the money. I have heard of folks bringing their chickens to vets and getting way worse advise than the folks on here would ever give. Many vets just know nothing about avian species, so people need to choose a vet wisely.

Some people can't do it since the driving distance is not feasible. Some people can't do it because it isn't financially feasible. Posting on here is the next best thing.

Thank u for ur support. No avian vet available anyway. The closest was at least a month out, no emergencies or advise. Here was the better option.
