Rooster help

Their run has whole pallets on the sides and its all covered with hardware cloth. Its not pretty to look at but its tough as fort knox .It has an apron too so I feel its safe to leave the door open.If they had a bigger coop I'd close the door...
I think i want to multi level my coop to get more chickens in the same space. but i guess i could run that through the coop forums. I have 4x8 x7 space to work with. I plan to make a ramp when i install the nesting boxes in 1-2 months. i got until oct before i expect a single egg so i have time.

I made a loft ( half as wide as the bottom floor )for the top of my coop & my chickens love it! They roost up there in the summertime & enjoy the view from the windows in the morning when the weathers bad outside but they rarely use it any other time. They never use it in the winter.I always say chickens are smarter than we give them credit.

First they are never in coop except to sleep. They run loose. Yes he was alone for a few months. It was just him and a hen and neighbors dog dug under fence and got her. The baby gets in coop at night just fine if rooster is not in there. They are bantams and the run is completely desperate from coop. And like I said they are all together all day long with no problems at all. It just when she gets in coop.
I think I'm safe in saying most of us have been there, outgrowing our coops. There are some really great ideas on byc on how to expand what you have (including the small houses like yours). Or even taking the next step to a chicken Taj mahal :D
I suggest taking a look at the coop articles.
Good luck!

When I started out I had plans to make this cute 4 x 6 raised coop for 6 chickens but after adding 3 ft of height for ventilation it looks awful lol Some problems can be fixed some can't
