Rooster help

First they are never in coop except to sleep. They run loose. Yes he was alone for a few months. It was just him and a hen and neighbors dog dug under fence and got her. The baby gets in coop at night just fine if rooster is not in there. They are bantams and the run is completely desperate from coop. And like I said they are all together all day long with no problems at all. It just when she gets in coop.
get urself some more space for sure./ if ud get the rooster its own coop anyway just get a coop big enough for all of em and keep that thing for an emergency shelter or hospital if u ever need to seperate them.

My run if 4x6x8 and yes just the baby. Honestly when they are all in the coop it's not crowed. 2 of the drizzled won't like to roost. They always cuddle in the nesting box no matter what's going on. When they may in the yard those same 2 cuddle together.

I wouldn't remove the rooster. Just make an area for the chick in the coop so he can't bite her. Adding chicks at a young age is easier (3-4 week old chicks) Chickens need 4 sq ft in the coop.Bantams 1/2 that. That coop looks too small.

im talking about the coop not the run, they currently in my flock have a 4x8x2 run, but its basically only a safe covered place to hang out when they dont wanna free range, and to be quiet honest i rarely see group 1 in the run now that they have access to it again.

I see the grouping in my coop to when i check on them they never spread out they pile on each other, of course i ahve to groups cuddling wiht each others own groupies. I wouldnt feel very comfy in that tiny copp with even the little group u have, most people discourage sleeping in the nesting boxes from what ive seen. but im not a long experienced veteran.

Id say see if u can get a bigger space with some options. and as the baby gets bigger anyway the rooster will be less intimidating to it.

are u free ranging or just using the run?

Staying in that coop from 8 till 8 in the morning would be like you and a bunch of people having to stay in an elevator a long time together.Every living thing needs a little breathing room & space for the sake of sanity. And it also has poor ventilation so the chickens can't breath when they're locked up at night when its hot.If you make the coop and run predator proof you won't have to shut the door at night. That would help.

am i not alone in the 8 to 8 time keeping schedule? lol i find it so much easier that dawn and dusk lol.

Sometimes I'm up at the crack of dawn but I have slept till 10-11. My poor chickens would scream & holler if I shut their door.(so I don't) The coop & run are predator proof though.
hardware cloth interests me, i know it can keep predators out. they cant pull the chickens through enough to hurt them? id love to be able to leave the run open in the summer and spring and fall. hell my bosses family at my last campground left the coop door open 24/7 365. id love to only have to do a head count and not close it up completely. but i havent been ready to go the Hardware cloth route yet. im sure in the winter predators will be more desperate though.

Their run has whole pallets on the sides and its all covered with hardware cloth. Its not pretty to look at but its tough as fort knox .It has an apron too so I feel its safe to leave the door open.If they had a bigger coop I'd close the door...Edit:I believe I was still working on the top when I took this picture so it still had netting on it until I finished the hardware cloth.Back then I was still closing the door at night.
