yes it was super easy and he is so much happier.( the rooster not hubby) I just need him to build 3 more since I have too many roos and they try to fight...I hate it. I also do not have any money for nesting boxes so wracking my brain for ideas. Thanks .I have at least 3 to 4 roos and 11 chickens in all. 6 are 20 wks and 5 are 9 weeks and they are as big as the older group!
Love it! For roosting boxes check your local freecycle or craigslist for free items. I've seen pallets for free to pick up, they make for good wood. Right now we are using old pet taxies, the hens love em. If you want to spend some money I've hear that the plastic crates at walmart work good. they are about $4. a friend of mine took tree limbs and and wove them into boxes kind of like i did on one wall of my chicken shack
Brilliant! I'll bet something like that would fit right in my run for a broody hen next spring! The creativity of everyone here on BYC just amazes me....
The corner store had a stack of old plastic milk crates collecting dust out back. We asked for some. We brought them home and filled them with bedding... voila! Nesting boxes.
